It is Friiiiiday! Happy FRIDAY everyone :)))
Time flies and it is almost the last week of August. This means that I will be going to Glasgow soon. Feeling excited, nervous, happy and a little bit of reluctance. I don't want to end my student life so soon... although I hate exam. Those who have graduated must know what I mean by that!
I just want to share something that I saw today at office.
People rarely feeling satisfy nowadays as they increase their living qualities gradually, year by year. I saw a post about how materialism erodes happiness few days ago on businessinder.com. Dr. Tatzel claimed that,
“The larger the gap between what one wants and what one has, the greater the dissatisfaction,Less materialism equals more happiness.”
Most of the workshop's workers' salary are not as high as those office lady and some may even just around RM 1,000. What can you do with just only RM 1,000? Half of the salary would probably go for electricity and water supply bill, and also monthly payment for car and living costs. It seems like there is not much less for buying something to pamper yourself or fulfill your satisfaction.
The drinking water machine had been broken for few months causing the workers had to bring or buy water by themselves. Yesterday, a new drinking water machine was sent to our office to replace the broken one. A filter also comes along with the machine so that the workers are able to drink cleaner water. It is hard to imagine how dirty the water can be in an industrial park, filtering the water is not only for the workers but the whole company - prevent absenteeism caused by sickness of the workers :)) The machine can produce both hot and cold water.
I can tell that this brand new machine has brought laughter and happiness to the workers. They mopped the basin after they have used the machine. They show their colleagues how to function the machine and what new function the machine provided. They laughed and smiled and talked about the machine so loudly that luring you to find out what was happening at that moment.
I wonder how can this machine makes them so happy. Is it just because of the curiosity? or because there is something new?
The laughter are so innocence that remind me of my childhood. There must have huge difference between how I laugh at the moment and how I laughed when I was a teen or a kid. I wonder if we still know how to laugh from our heart.
I hope the drinking machine can keep bringing laughter to them and please don't simply absence from work =='''
